Why do they keep phones releases so secretive? Wouldn't it be better to advertise and announce the phones release? This caused me to upgrade last year to a 8320 only to see the 8900 released a month and a half later. Just a little confusing to me.

I guess I see it in two ways:
1) They don't want there competition to see it yet. I wouldn't want a company to copy ideas off of me design wise...thus having the same product out in the same trimester.
2) From a customer standpoint...if I see a product on TV and I know that it's coming out tomorrow and I know it's something that I MUST have, I will want to rush to the store to get it ASAP style.
I believe they keep phone releases secret so consumers continue to purchase the current line up of products.

I completely agree with this...
I think because once they announce it, they are commited and have to do one of two things.
1) Relase a phone with a major or at least noticable and annoying defect/performance issue, and look stupid.
2) Push back date to fix it and then look stupid.
