Do you think RIM will make ActiveSync available for BIS users? Now that RIM has been moving into the Consumer space I think it makes more sense than ever to provide it.
Thanks for your comments.

They support OWA, but it's terrible.
They need to add ActiveSync support to the OS - to Sync everything.
Having a push email protocol behind another push email server that has much worse uptime than Microsoft/Google's servers doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
ActiveSync is needed because RIM simply isn't moving fast enough with BIS - ActievSync has pretty much left it in the dust becasue of the way everyone is supporting it in stock OS images, and it's faster (since it doesn't poll like BIS does for Hotmail, for example).
I think the biggest reason why they won't do it is because ActiveSync doesn't truncate email/attachments and their email client doesn't have good enough HTML Email support to deal with it.
I wonder how many CB subscribers are on BIS vs BES?
While I am using an iphone now, I might switch back once the Torch 2 arrives but I am not sure if I want the inconvenience of Not having the built-in functionality of syncing calendars and contacts.
I heard there is a product called AstraSync which costs about $50 per year.
We all need to write to RIM now! ;)

I know that RIM doesn't want to give up on BES, but I think they are going to lose that war - if they haven't already.
I know that our firm dropped BES about 2 years ago once all the partners switched to the iPhone. BES was just too costly for our office with only about 25 people who connect to the office email with their phones. I'm one of them, but I make do with my Torch (and Pearl 8100 before that) connecting to OWA over my own BIS.
Sure, RIM put out BES Express just for companies of our size, but the damage was already done. The bosses won't hear of anything related to BlackBerry anymore. And I'm sure there are many other companies out there who feel the same way.
I have a business-type phone (and it is by choice, I don't want an iPhone or Android phone), but I can't connect to my office the same way as others in my office can with their iPhone. Something is wrong there.
Give us ActiveSync out of the box and those other phones will have one less thing to say they have over BB. All the big major corporations and government agencies will still want the added security of BES, so RIM will still have that. But let the rest of us have ActiveSync to get back in touch with our offices who dropped BES and have no reason at all to go back.

Well, BIS can push GMail Contacts and Calendar to your phone, if you wanna go that route.
But to get to business Exchange you're not gonna get very far even if you're using OWA.
BTW, Joe I see ur from Baton Rouge. I'm from Lafayette.
