It's like the Blues Brothers, getting the band together again. Perfectly feasible.

Pretty sure you can catch the Blues Brothers in Vegas.... the band goes on, even if the originals have "moved on".

But BlackBerry the smartphone company has also "moved on" in much the same way... other than the name, there really isn't anything there at this point.

There is absolutely nothing secure about Blackberry Android right now, unless it is completely redone from scratch - likely at a cost in the 9 figures.

There also has to be an integrated hardware component to match the Google Pixel Titan M2 chip (which cost them ungodly amounts of money to develop) if they want to even talk about being a secure device.

It would be a hopeless exercise.

Both Samsung and Google have security hardware... but much of what made BlackBerry's Android Secure, was selection of options, that have now become defaults for Android OEMs.

In the end you'd be starting all from scratch - as that part of BlackBerry is gone. It really comes down to would the BlackBerry name help to sell more phones than using the Tesla name? I think the Tesla brand is more valuable than the BlackBerry brand.

Of course the OP is likly talking about BB10....

Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, perhaps you have not visited, all it encompasses, a facility, security and investment that's it, go ahead try to pull some thing off there...a device (facility) and Blackberry (security), and Musk...? What if Elon is told he can't make it happen? The greatest thing about free speech is expressed grandeur obstacles sparks ambitions to jump the hurdles, it takes only one.

Well, at least Musk wouldn't have to fire or bully out half the engineers. BB is way ahead of him on that, having already let go everyone who worked on this years ago.

No need to license Blackberry devices. Musk is unpredictable enough to just buy the whole company. He can well afford it.

He'll settle BB10 vs Android once and for all by having the engineers print out their kernels

I assume the financial burden of buying Twitter (there is not for nothing he needed additional financing partners to produce the amount needed) will mean similar "impulse purchases" are out of question for the foreseeable future.
Plus, making a new OS (at this point re-releasing BB10 is practically building an OS from scratch) is even more complicated than trying to shore up an ailing social media site, particularly if you listen to the advice of people like "catturd".

And if you're going to build an OS from scratch, you might as well put a couple of billion into that idea directly. Why buy and old OS. Just build the new one.

But even that doesn't make sense.

And privacy and security are two different concepts. BB10 adds nothing to privacy. And nothing current or relevant to security either in 2022.

    Nah,

He'd probably want to harvest as much information as possible about his users, so he can serve up ads in Tesla vehicles.

He should probably consult Apple on this one.

Oh apps. BB10 had no apps, so it's not worth anything to anyone.

Wrong, BB10 had Nobex, Fongo and Parrot. Little else is needed.
