I was going to mention this too, but not having a Priv myself was unsure if it was there or not.

Im not specifically on about the business world or any other world. Im just stating a reason why there would be a need for a 3rd party file manager :)
Mainly because app developers absolutely hate fragmentation. Google/Android has made great strides over the past few years to reduce fragmentation. But the Amazon App Store just reintroduces that fragmentation. If an app developer utilizes Google Play Services within their apps, then they'd have to create a separate build to accommodate Amazon's implementation of Play Services. While some of the services are duplicated (requiring a new build itself), there's also the added problem that not all of Google Play Services have been replicated by Amazon, resulting in the app developer having to build those features from scratch, resulting in even yet more time and resource investment to maintain that separate build. Which is why Amazon Android Apps are typically updated yearly versus their Google Play counterparts being updated bi-weekly/monthly.
Most developers would rather just say, "You want this app, get it from the Play Store." just to make their life easier.
You had better not use any Google search or Maps or even third parties that use these programs.
Sorry, have Google stuck in my head when I see "app store" and Android together. Wouldn't Amazon still have to approve it?

Poor ratings given by BB10 "fans".
App requires Google Play Services.
Small market.
Not willing to buy paid version.
Bad experiences with Amazon.
Nope. All Amazon does is verify that apps submitted to their store has stripped Google Play Services requirements from their apps (and sometimes those slip through). Beyond that, it's up to the developer to choose which devices have access to the app. Literally just clicking a check box to activate/deactivate for each device and/or OS version.
Why should they?
You're right. That's why I don't on mobile. I'm fine with Google on my PC because it's easy to manage privacy via VPN, cookie management, etc.

Your view may be skewed by the fact the Priv is probably a poor example, as most other Android devices come with built in file managers, gallery & video players.

Have a read here... attention and willpower is a limited resource.
You don't think having to stop and think when digging through menus and navigating an unintuitive UI is NOT gonna have an impact...?
:-D

I remember when Michael Clewley said that the call-answer screen had to be changed because it results in a "think point" and it was important to eliminate these "think points".
Android is one massive fustercluck of "think points".
Except most people hated that change and were asking if there was a way to return to the up and down call answer functionality. I liked that better myself, had a nicer look to it.

Attribute this to BB not preinstalling those apps.
My Sony and Samsung Androids always had File Explorers out-the-box, a video player that supports most formats and a Gallery, as well as office apps.
I don't. On the rare occasions that I do, I delete history and cookies right away and use startpage or similar.
I don't care. No device saves you time on every process. Some excel at one thing while another excels at something else. BB10 is not perfect.
I find it ironic that as I sit and use my phone based on BlackBerry 10, the king OS of swiping gestures, that my wife can delete messages from her Android phone by swiping them to the right with one quick gesture and I can't.

Exactly. Good example.
Seems like you're very justified in wanting that.
Though I can assure you, file managers aren't exactly as easy as people think it is to develop ;)
What you're saying is obviously true, but misses the point completely. BB10's approach to work flow is very different from Android and iOS. For certain processes it is demonstrably better, with fewer "think points" in the user experience.
If the main goal is to power through written communications on multiple accounts as quickly and accurately as possible when away from a desktop computer, BB10 is pretty damned amazing. Attachment handling is fantastic, and calendar, tasks and notes are fully synced with most corporate systems. All this works perfectly out of the box in a very polished manner because it was built as a cohesive, integrated system by a single team of developers.
If, on the other hand, you spend most of your time on 3rd party apps, such as social networking, entertainment, photo editing, etc, then BlackBerry is demonstrably weaker than either iOS or Android.
Most consumers, who make up the vast majority of purchasing decisions now that few companies buy and issue fleets of devices, prefer the 3rd party app-centered approach, which is why BB10 is a poor fit for them, but for the minority of us who see our BB10 phone as an indispensable tool for written communication, it is still the best available OS.

Because that gesture is used to go back in bb10. I don't think hitting a trash icon vs swiping in the same area make any difference.
I don't disagree for the most part. BB10 is a very fluid well thought out OS. It does things differently, as you point out, than Android and iOS. I wouldn't lump Android and iOS as just consumer though. Most businesses, along with their specific apps, use them too. I think individuals using their device for productivity may find BB10 best if they don't depend on integrating with those businesses on a direct level, if that makes sense. Networking within a business not so much.
And yet if BB10 had it, and Android didn't, people on CB (not saying you) would be using it as a point of superiority.

You can only swipe in so many directions without inadvertently doing something that has don't want to do. The swipe to the right already has an action assigned to it in bb10.

Just as we are talking about productivity, does the Priv (or Android/iOS in general ) have the "Hub attachments" feature?
Sometimes I think "omg, now I have to find that e-mail again with that document attached...", but then there is "Hub attachments"...and after a few seconds scrolling I get it.
This neat little feature must have saved me HOURS already when I have to respond from my phone.
