I've just bought a second hand BlackBerry off eBay.
Initially, I was happy with its condition so left positive feedback etc. However, I was appalled on discovering that the handset's IP has been banned from certain websites for "requesting child pornography". Due to the nature of the degree I am studying for I simply cannot be associated with this IP address.
The seller claims to be Police Officer but refuses to provide me with his collar number or rank. I have opened the case up with eBay but in the mean time, is there any way I can rid myself of this IP address?
I think I would return it and Document Document Document everything you do in regard to the phone. If the issue ever comes up later you can cover yourself. I would be getting rid of that phone asap.

Reason: Typo
+1 to getting a new device... should be no problem to get your money back.. just follow the proper ebay/paypal steps, and as was mentioned already, document everything....
OH MY GOD, STOP SPREADING MISINFORMATION. THIS IS NOT A PHONE ISSUE.
Your IP address is randomly assigned by your carrier through a number of proxy servers, and some of these address blocks are shared by multiple ISPs and cellular service providers. It is not uncommon to wind up temporarily banned just because your proxy changed.
If the wrong in this thread could be concentrated, it would be enough to make fire cold, water dry, rice black, the sky green, grass purple, and the pope protestant.
