Marketing and BlackBerry aren't quite the best match.

Otherwise, just kick a Kickstarter or Indiegogo campaign go-go-going and let the fans sort it out. Let's licence the BBugger...!!!

    Ouch, NIAP... that won't help!

    Fine,

BlackBerry's super advanced security methods, root of trust, and all the other buzz words they threw at us, are SO good, they prevent any OS other than 'BlackBerry Android' to be installed on the DTEK60.

Isn't it a violation of Google's agreement to put out a phone that runs another OS when you're building Android phones?

I don't think so. Google does not allow dual booting. So you may have different OS phones but can't use them on the same device.

If you make an Android device sanctioned by Google , you can't make another with a forked version of Android.

That was BB10 with a further developed Android Runtime. BB10 by itself would be fine.

No HTC for the One (M8) had both Windows and Android versions of the phone. What Google prohibits are incompatible forks of Android from its partners. HTC couldn't make an Amazon phone for example.

Again, BB10 drivers only exist for the Snapdragon S4 and 801. The development costs to build new driver sets for recent hardware word be prohibitive based on the small BB10 user base.

Acer or someone tried for a dual-boot windows/android device... If I remember correctly if had two separate drives for each to try and argue it wasn't a dual-boot.

King Google says 'yeah no' and it was never released.

Acer did release a dual boot windows and Android tablet. but it flopped. Acer got into trouble with oha rules when they tried to release a forked (Alibba powered) Android smartphone while they tried to make it compatible with the rest of the Android ecosystem.

They are non-compliant with the OHA, and hence no Google apps or Play Services.

I'm getting a little lost here. Is Android an operating system or a phone? When people say 'android phone' I always assumed they meant a phone running android.
