I am new to blackberries so please excuse my ignorance. What I want to be able to do is use the gps on my blackberry with out having the data connection turned on. Is their any app that will alow me to down load maps onto my memory while using the gps to give location and guidance? Thank you for the advice.

I have the same question. I will be in areas with no cell coverage so won't be able to use any of the online (data stream) type map systems. Software similar to what folks download to a Garmin would be ideal.

Any know of such an app?

    Thanks

Well, here's a solution. This does NOT give turn by turn voice directions (like Garmin) or even text directions (like Google maps). But, at least, you will have a map on your blackberry and your location on the map will be shown. The instructions on how to download and setup "offline" maps are on this thread.
