This case serves as an encryption device, but doesn't BlackBerry already encrypt?

    For the uninitiated. Thanks.

    No lol
Bes enabled phone has email and bbm but not call to call or sms to sms

It already has phone encryption but only locally

It does not protect things you use on cellular networks
In order to have end to end encryption over cellular for bbry or android or ios you need an app like redphone or having an very expencive encryption chip built in

Or Obama's and the German chancellor's custom encryption chip enabled bbrys but those you cannot buy off of shelves
The cheapest route is to buy an app or use redphone

In order to be secure you must phone app to app it will still call over cellular but it will tell you if the other person answers with the encryption app

Where do you get redphone? Is this a modification to BlackBerry or a different device altogether?

What does it sound like that is an overpriced case that covers up the camera for security... such a gimmick.

Imagine how good BlackBerry will look when there all these random services that both people have to be signed up for to use, and you have to think about which encrypted service your friends use.

Or just get BBM protected and use that.

And what if BBM voice were to go protected too? Do you think people would trust BB instead of xyz encryption service? I do.

Also, why does the case maker's website not work in the bb10 browser? Getting a 3RSH_A error.

Except that with bbm protect you can only call bbm clients

Vs these other apps you can call non encrypted to encrypted you won't be protected but at least you aren't limited to one set of people
If you really want a encryption phone buy a stu-3

I think bbm and maybe also data was encrypted in bb7 and older devices but for bb10 we are on the same unprotected level as android and iPhone

Nope bbm isn't even encrypted on bis as proven with the UK and India and Indonesia cases even Canada where bbry handed the ability to access to bbry customers except for Bes clients and even you can look upon the bes bbm article on crackberry.com

I'm not talking about old BBM, I was referring to the upcoming BBM protected on bb10 and inevitably cross platform for $30 a year service.

For the consumer, what about Truphone for encrypted voice calls? It's available on Android, iOS /and/ BlackBerry 10.
