    Hello !

Please refer to this thread for details.

GPS in and of itself doesn't use mobile data. It's a separate direct connection to the GPS satellite system. Not part of your carrier's mobile system.

'Assisted' GPS does. If LS is turned off it doesn't appear to use any data - while still remaining active in the background.
Whether it interacts with data using applications when 'turned off' is a question for the experts I suppose.

If BB10 uses AGPS there would be a quite minimal (5-6kb?) transfer when getting an assisted location fix. This is done via the cell towers in order to speed up positioning.

In addition to the tiny amount of data that aGPS uses, you'd need to consider if the app you are using to make use of the location services is using data. For example, an app that records your "track" for walking, running or biking may be uploading your position to the app's cloud-based server in real time. The packets are tiny, but everything adds up, and if the app is updating, say, every 15 seconds, vs. every minute or every 5 minutes, it's obviously going to use more data.

As stated, the raw GPS signal is just radio signals that the GPS chip receives, not all that different from FM radio, so no data is used for that, but with Assisted GPS and depending on the app you are using, chances are you are using at least SOME data, even if it isn't very much.
