I'm still on my Storm 1 and the GPS doesn't work with Google Maps. Does the GPS work with the Storm 2 in google maps or is this still limited to VZ navigator and BB Maps?
You are right, that is not. But do make sure it is turned on and that Google Maps has permission to access it.
Done all that... time and time again. This is why I want to move to the Storm 2, but I hear a lot of people have GPS on the Storm 1 working, mine does not. Just a little leary to make the jump at retail price if that phone is "supposed" to have GPS connectivity but it doesn't work
Make sure you go into options and set the gps to location (options > advanced > GPS > gps service > location on) also check to make sure the permissions for google maps gives it access to your location data (options > application > google maps > edit permissions)

Hmm...I assume you have the latest version of Google Maps, and have tried reinstalling too? Who knows, maybe you have a faulty device or corrupted OS.
got google maps working and it's fine. I just discovered each time u press the blue dot at the lower left of screen it changes location accuracy. pretty nifty! it even shows me moving around inside my house.
GPS works on my S1 and S2. It's just not "Assisted GPS" that BB Maps uses, so it's a tad slower. Especially if you shut it off in Phoenix and turn it on in Hobart, Tasmania. Takes a while to get a GPS lock.
My S2 is faster at home, so we'll see how fast it acquires a lock in London, Paris and Amsterdam in a month.
Using GPS with any application does not cost anything unless the application itself had to be purchased or requires a monthly subscription. BB Maps and Google Maps are neither. Mapping applications of course download map data so there is that cost if you are roaming and not on the global data plan.
I beg to differ, my S1 says accurate within 1200 meters. Thats not GPS...
I also beg to differ ... my S1 google maps says accurate within 7 meters. That _is_ GPS... Give it some time when you crank up google maps, as it can take five minutes are so to grab a signal.

Google Maps cannot use the assisted GPS so it can take some time for it to get a lock, but GPS does work with Google maps on both Storms.
I've been waiting for 30 minutes and still no lock. Hm. It's an original S1, wonder if the GPS is borked.
Check in the BB Maps program, that uses aGPS to get a quicker lock.
Also, try closing Google Maps, and then starting it back up outside with a clear view of the sky. I don't get a quick lock in my office, but it locks very quickly when I'm outside.
