The fact that UK users are charged at a 1:1 conversion rate with the US dollar price (eg, a $3 dollar app will br 3) seems to be unjustifiable, and feels to me as though it probably hurts RIM and developers. If, for example, an app that was $1 in the US was 65p, I think devs would sell a lot more. Also, I'd imagine that apps like BBM Music would be more popular in the UK if the cost was fairly converted ($5 = 3 approx), instead of being comparatively more expensive (the 5 we pay = $8 approx).

Isn't this standard practice across sectors? They call the UK 'Treasure Island' for a reason?

If 'sectors' is mobile platforms, that would be interesting (and something i didn't know), if it's other products too (eg tech in general) then yes-ish I guess, but it isn't usually quite such a blatant 1:1 conversion.

Why does this need a new thread when there is a long existing active topic about it?

Last time I checked, paying good money for broken apps was not country specific.

Yes, many use currency conversion API's.

    A 1 Dollar app costs a UK purchaser $1.60.
