I check in to CrackBerry often, but there never seems to be much response from the people who have answers from RIM/BBM/TCL regarding whether or not they're aware of issues or are working on them...

I expect they monitor certain threads.... and are aware of some issues that get reported here, but a few complaints on a forum isn't the same as when they start to see high number of returns or a viral video showing how little glue holds the screen on.
Most of the participation I've seen was on the software side.... but haven't noticed as much going on there lately.
Yes I do....... jk I don't work for BlackBerry but I have read coments from others that claimed to work for RIM in the past. And I'd say with pretty high confidence that some of the BlackBerry staff at least read what's going on here, I mean they did hand over customer support to the cb community.
