    My old office had to have the blackberry server to run the phones, is that still true?

    Not necessary , depends on your email provider requirements. for the most part no you don't need blackberry server any more .

    if they are going to manage your phones using BES.
    otherwise i get work email on my phone. we don't have a BES.

    BBOS phones required either BIS or BES in order to get email (and other stuff).

    BB10 phones support BES for corporate email that requires it, but otherwise BB10 phones are just like any other smartphone and use the same industry-standard protocols (IMAP, POP, etc.) to get emails, no BIS or BES required.

    I get my work email (.ca domain) on my classic with no problems.

    Using my Cobalt Blue BlackBerry Classic :-)
