I bought a Priv from AT&T on launch day last year and I want to replace it with a Priv from ShopBlackberry.com. My question is; what do I have to tell AT&T in order to get the new phone (from ShopBlackberry.com) working on their network? What else needs to be done outside of switching the SIM Card? I'm currently in the middle of a 2 year contract with AT&T.
In my opinion I would check to ensure that it works properly on their network before purchasing. The provider cannot do anything on their end. You don't need to tell them you have an unlocked phone either.

Did you mean to say "I DID just put my Sim from Passport in my dtek60 I bought from BlackBerry no issues at all"? And if so, I'm assuming your Passport was on an AT&T contract already?
As long as the new Priv runs on AT&T's frequency it will work. Why would they want to know? Why on earth should they need to know?

Whenever I get a new phone (I've only bought phones from AT&T on 2-year contracts), I get charged an activation fee. I didn't know if the same thing applied here for this situation as well. I understand the charge is bs, but I wasn't sure if any phone would work by me just switching SIM cards or if AT&T actually had to "activate" the new phone.
