I use mine every day for email , BBM, and powerpoints/word for cheating lol. Usually Verizon offer discount to students in a university. Try signing in on their site and enter your email under employee sections. If it saves you money, maybe you will reconsider staying with the data plan. I stayed when they offer me 19% off my plan.
I know when my 8310's LCD went out, I had to use an old flip phone and I completely missed my blackberry. While having it I thought it was an okay phone, but after it was gone did I realize how much I need a Blackberry.
Now I have the wonderful 9700 =)
Believe me, you'll miss it when it's gone.
