    Welcome to the forums! There are no differences, 'cept one needs to be sideloaded (ported) while the other can go directly into the device.

    Actually, a forted andoird app turned BAR file is a ZIP file containing the apk and a folder for icons and manifest files. The "added" size is negligible. Effectively, there aren't any differences besides one abiding to (most likely now defunct) porting rules and the other running as originally expected by the dev.

    With the phone? Or using the phone as a thumb drive?

    The former is known as USB OTG. Which is supported on Z30 only as of right now.

    The latter is supported on all devices. I'm 90% sure.
