I correctly set my default device calendar and messaging settings to my gmail, but when I am trying to sync the existing Blackberry Calendar entries (categorized as device default) to my Outlook it doesn't get copied over to Outlook. The only entries that get copied on my Blackberry over to my Outlook are the ones that have been specifically named Gmail and not Device Default. If device default and my gmail are the exact same thing, why isn't this working?

Try the following steps to see if it will fix your problem.

Just in case this isn't known, DM and Outlook 2003 or below do not work with eachother.

Was this every resolved? I am having the same problem. My [email protected] calendar appts will sync to Outlook, but none of my 'device default' appts are syncing. If I delete the CICAL for [email protected], all appts appear to be related to device default, but will not sync.

    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

I finally got this fixed on my Storm.

I had to delete all appts associated with my 'device default' calendar,
and manually add them back in (on my Storm).

Then I synced to my pc (overwriting everything in outlook), deleted my BB calendar, and finally did a 1 way sync from outlook to BB.

Everything looks good now, but it was a hassle.

I finally found the definitive answer to the Device Default Calendar entries. It's in a BlackBerry support article here:

    View Document

It explains all about how calendar entries are associated with your email accounts & tells you how to fix it when your appointments get moved to the Device Default calendar. You can merge Device Default calendar data with an email account & recover it pretty easily.

This article would have solved countless hours of frustration for & me & lot of others here.

    That is helpfull, thanks!

The one thing that still has me confused about this phone, is what does my hotmail acct have to do with my calendar? I dont sync to a hotmail calendar.

I sync all of my BB calendar appts to Outlook on my pc, which has nothing to do with my Hotmail email account.

My problems started when a BB OS update re-created a hotmail calendar on my phone, and sync to Outlook just stopped working alltogether. I previously had just used the default device calendar on my phone. I had to manually move all calendar entries to the hotmail calendar. Now that I have all calendar entries associated with my homtail calendar (on the BB), everything syncs to Outlook correctly.

I guess thats just how it is.................
