I recently got myself an 8GB SanDisk microsd. So far i have 6gb worth of songs on it now.

It's great having more memory. But i notice that with flash memory, it takes awhile to "access" the data sometimes. You can tell when the phone is trying to load it up from memory.

Like when the first time i copied 6GB worth of songs in one sitting, took almost forever in that "scanning" mode.
After the initial scan and indexing of the microSD card after you load data, there should be nearly no lag

An 8GB bb almost seems like a worthy adversary to the ipods/iphone/ipod touch.

Now if only the 16GB/32GB cards would get here sooner!

Thought these 2 would be good to show....

    Newegg.com - Kingston 2GB MicroSD Flash Card Model SDC/2GB - Flash Memory

Newegg.com - Kingston 2GB MicroSD Flash Card with 2 adapters (miniSD and full-size SD) and USB reader Model MBLY/2GBKR - Flash Memory

The first one is by far the best deal out there. Free shipping and less than $8 You can't beat that price. Yeah you may not get it in 3 days, but I refuse to pay $7 to ship something I know can be mailed for under a dollar.

I dont know much about SD cards except for the size and the amount it holds. So my question is what does speed class 2 and speed class 4 mean? Is it really a big speed difference between them? Also i see that SanDisk and Kingston are top brands but is one better than the other? Im down to my 2 choices:

    SanDisk
Amazon.com: SanDisk 8GB microSDHC Card CLASS 2 (SDSDQ-8192, Bulk Package): Electronics

    or
    Kingston Brand
    FRYS.com*|*KINGSTON or
Kingston 8GB microSDHC (Class 4) High Capacity Micro Secure Digital Card W/Adapter, Model SDC4/8GB

can you all help me decide?

The SD Speed Class Ratings specify the minimum write speeds.
    So....

    Class 2 = 2 MB/sec
    Class 4 = 4 MB/sec
    Class 6 = 6 MB/sec

You'll notice between the two you're considering, the Kingston has a faster write speed. That said, I'm not sure you'll notice much difference when using class 4 vs class 2 on your blackberry.

Regarding the two brands, most people prefer SanDisk. However I've (and alot of others have) used both and have never had trouble with Kingston....probably won't go wrong with either. Hope this helps.

I think im gonna go with the Kingston however i have a question. I have a SanDisk reader/writer/card reader plug adapter at home that plugs into the pc. This Kingston comes with the adapter that enables it to be bigger (however you would explain it), will the Kingston adapter be compatible with the Sandisk card reader/writer/pc adapter plug that i already have?

2020 has provided you with excellent advice, so I hate to step in and steal his show... but yes you can do this!!

And both SanDisk and Kingston are well-known brands. You probably will not notice much of a difference in speed class on your Berry... but it would be apparent when transferring files from your PC, etc

Make the choice using whatever criteria you feel most important. Speed class probably does not matter much, so I might consider price over the speed class. Either way, you cannot go wrong with either of your options!

Thanks to the both of you for your advice. I think imma go with the Kingston since theyre both the same price but the speed is a little faster (eve though it wouldnt matter on the bberry, just to know that its there)

I bought Kingston because A) it was cheap and B) it came with 2 adapters (mini and standard size) so I can use the card in more than just my BB.

    Got one what?? lol... 2Gb, 4Gb, 8Gb, 18Gb???

10 bucks could either be a great deal, or it could be mediocre... depends on the card! And I usually try to avoid eBay... just because it can be shady at times.

Frys is the place!!!!! Ordered 8gb for 20.99 and received it in 3 days. I think shipping was around six dollars and since I live across the state line from Frys location, there was not any sales tax. Considering gas prices now I was well pleased. Mine is only showing 7.4 gigs evening after re-formating.
