hey there. I have a BB Curve 8520, Tmobile, operating system 5.

I'm headed to Africa for a while and I want to use an app called TringMe, which uses a wifi connection to send and receive calls. This app promptly turns my Curve off when I try to make a call. I'm assuming the 8520 just doesn't have the processing power to handle it, since it jams up big time when we make lots of alterations to the contacts on our Enterprise Server.

I tried TringMe on a Bold 9700 and it connected. There was a five-second delay in convo which made the call pointless, but it's progress...

Is it a simple matter of the Bold having more juice than the 8520? Or do you think something else could be contributing to this? I see the Curve 8520 and the Bold 9700 have the same amount of internal memory (256 MB), so I'm confused. Then again, I've never been sure if Blackberry is referring actually to RAM when they "internal memory"....

    thanks much in advance.

Bold 9700 has more processing power than Curve 8520, that much is true.

Perhaps it's more about compatibility and less about processing power? For example, WhatsApp does not support Curve 8520.

Memory is just one of the many factors of a device's capabilities, and yes they mean RAM. Bold 9700 (much less Curve 8520) does not have internal storage that large (mine is only about, what, 10 MB?)

I'm not exactly sure of the answer to the OP's issue, but i would like to correct that WhatsApp do work on the 8520.
