- Ok, some strange things just happened and I'm not sure why. I decided to try the trial version of Pocket Informant and downloaded it via my DM. It downloaded fine, but I decided that I didn't want it afterall. I uninstalled it via DM and thats where the problems started:
1. My pictures disappeared (my wallpaper went back to the default), and when I tried to go to my media card, nothing was there.
2. The DM did not recognize my device.
3. I got a App Error 520.
I pulled the battery and now the BB is up and running, but the pictures on my memory card are still not being found.
I have a recent backup, but I hesitate to do that since I will lose emails that I have composed and received since then.
Any suggestions?12-02-08 05:38 PMLike 0 - amazinglygracelessRetired ModBackup your phone now. Try reading the card from the computer
and not from the phone. If the pictures show, copy them all to
the PC format the card and then copy them back to the card.
If worse comes to worse, reload the OS.12-02-08 05:44 PMLike 0 - jeffhRetired ModeratorI would not expect restoring a backup to have any effect on pictures on your memory card, since they aren't included in it. You should make a current backup, then wipe your device, reload your OS, and restore the backup. You should also contact the Pocket Informant developers. I'm sure they would want to know of your problem, especially since the product has just recently been released.
You can use CrackMem, which you can download from a link in my sig, to help you wipe and reload your OS.12-02-08 05:50 PMLike 0 - Thanks for the replies. It turned out to be a really simple problem. It seems that when I uninstalled the software and the device rebooted, the mass storage was turned off. I turned it back on and all my pictures were right where I left them!
I have done a new back up and resync'd. Everything is back to normal, TG!!!
Thanks again for the help. Maybe someday I'll learn my lesson and stop downloading trial software. It seems that every time I do that, I run into some kind of problem....I just can't help myself. LOL12-02-08 05:56 PMLike 0 - amazinglygracelessRetired ModGood deal Jane. And give up on thinking about not trying trial
software. There is always something that will make you say
"I have got to try this"12-02-08 06:00 PMLike 0 - Help! I just tried to download a free trial of Pocket Informant and initally tried to do it via text, but part of the text was incomplete. I then tried it via computer and my 8700c is stuck in blinking lighted background hourglass mode. If this app wrecked my BB..... I have done the ctrl/alt/delete twice and have taken the battery and sim card out and it is still stuck12-17-08 10:28 PMLike 0
- jeffhRetired ModeratorI don't understand "tried to do it via text..." but it sounds like you have nuked your device. Did you verify that PI was compatible with an 8700c? If your phone is still stuck after a battery pull, your only recourse is the recovery from a nuked phone process, found in the Newbies forum: http://forums.crackberry.com/f3/how-...ckberry-32322/12-17-08 11:33 PMLike 0
- While I put on mourning clothing and went to work without my BB, my husband fixed the hourglass of doom. Could it be that it was not compatable w/my version of the BB operating system? I had recently downloaded "office outlook 2007" to try that calendar program, and think I remember having to back up to an earlier version. In any case, thanks jeffh12-18-08 07:58 PMLike 0
