    TIA,

    Hi Root,

The @ crackberry.com email is simply just a redirect. No emails are stored on our server. So theres no way to access it. You would have to figure out Pop3 login with the email account your having the crackberry.com email forward to.

    Hope that helps.

So you're saying that the 'other email address' that I gae when I registered is the address that root@crackberry.com will forward to? Is there an easy way to change that (since I didn't give it much thought when I signed up)?

I guess there is no way to send email at this point then... oh well...

    Thanks,

You can modify the email your crackberry redirect points too on
    http://crackberry.com/crackberry/email

If that does not work, you have to click the orange "Community" tab at the top. Click the "My Account" on the right hand side providing you are logged into the main site. Finally click "Create/Modify your @CrackBerry.com email address".

    There you go.

    Same topic... different question...

I have signed up for a crackberry.com email address and have it forwarding to a POP3 account. By sending an email from my forwarding address to my crackberry.com address, I am noticing that there is a 15 or so minute lag between when the mail is sent and when it is received back by my forwarding account? Is this by design?

Also... I would like to take this opportunity to thank CrackBerry.com for the use of this name. It is very exciting to be handing this new address out.

Thanks for your time and take care...

    Howdy Hobbs,

Not sure why there is that 15 min delay... Could be an issue on our end OR yours... I'll have the appropriate tech check this out on our end!

You're very welcome for use of the name... we hope everyone enjoys it!!!

    Seems to be immediate now

I would guess the delay would depend on what email address you are having it redirected to. If you have it redirected to your blackberry.net, gmail, or yahoo email, then I assume it would be immediate PUSH just as if you were using that account directly. Other email accounts are more of a PULL account, where BIS only checks them every 15 minutes or so. That could explain that delay.

Yeah... not the case here however. Throughout the evening, I noticed that the delay went away and it is now working great. I'm already sharing this new address with my friends.

    Thanks again!

I looked at your account, and you are still in the "Pre-Authorized" mode. This means that you did not authorize your account by clicking on the link provided by the email sent to you during the registration process.

I think that has been one of the problems many of us have had. I did not get a confirm registration email, just one telling me how to set up my crackberry.com email. I think that is why we can't add avatar's either.

So because of how this is set up, we could never send an email where the recipient would see that it's from 'name@crackberry.com' ? When composing email currently I either can have it sent from my default address (work address) or my blackberry.net address--no option for crackberry.com.

I just want to be sure I have it straight and not just missing an option.

    Thanks much

I believe that is right. You can have e-mail sent to your @crackberry.com e-mail but you can send a message from that email.

Re: Avatars. They are now WORKING! It was a little setting done wrong on our part.

Re: Emails. If you can login and out of the site, and post in the forums, then your account has been properly set up. Once you initially register with the site, you will receive an email that contains a link it it - click the link and it verifies your registration. If you don't see the email right away, check the spam/junk folder.

Re: Sending from an @crackberry.com Email Address. Right now, on our end of things we're only redirecting messages sent to an @crackberry.com email address to whatever address you specify. We didn't want to get into hosting email or worrying about having a mail server for sending from. Keep in mind that you don't actually HAVE to redirect the @crackberry.com address to your blackberry - you can send it to any existing email address you have (hotmail, gmail, whatever). If you're working for the Secret Service and you have a ton of sensitive emails, I wouldn't give your @CrackBerry.com address out for that kind of use - keep it for the personal friends and business contacts. It's secure, but not guaranteed secure like BlackBerry's services are.

HOWEVER...if you use a program like outlook, you can mimic sending from your CrackBerry address. On whatever pop account you are using, just change the From Address and Reply to Address to be the same as your @CrackBerry.com address. So you're sending through your existing server, but the person receiving the message will then see it came from @CrackBerry.com, and when they click the reply to button to respond, it will put in your @CrackBerry address. We're already receiving a ton of requests from people who would like to be able to send email from their @CrackBerry address straight from their Berry. We're going to start working on this! Maybe RIM will help us out
