Does anyone know where to buy CoPilot sat nav software for the new 8800?
Welcome to Crackberry.com!
CoPilot GPS Family: ALK Technologies
It doesn't look like they even offer a BlackBerry edition. Is there some particular reason you want this specific software over the many other GPS applications that are available?
**Also, moving this to the GPS section**
THey announced it - never answered any emails from me, and have not been heard from since.
I guess they aren't very interested in getting it out to the users. Looks like it would be a nice app to try out though.
It's vapor ware for now. Never seen it.
Stinsonddog's Blackberry GPS Tips
Well, I've been keeping on at ALK and keep getting the same delaying answer.
Why do I want it? I've been told Blackberry Maps isn't very good. What alternatives are there? I don't think TomTom do a Blackberry edition. If they did I'd get it...
Telenav Navigator.
$9.99 a month...cancel anytime. (and Google maps works great, it's free, but has no vocal directions)
And Telenav hasn't let me down yet.
Thanks mongoloid. perhaps I ought to explain I'm in England... I need software and maps for here...
Check out this page: CoPilot GPS Family: ALK Technologies
The page is available to see if the software is compatible with your device, hence the URL.
But, without even searching for my device.
I've come across this, just below the two drop down menus.
NOTE: CoPilot Live is compatible with devices running Windows Mobile (5.0 & 6.0) platforms.
So, I'm assuming there is no BB support.
Does anyone have any information on the new Garmin Blackberry GPS solution?
Well, I suppose I was wrong.
Here's the press release: Press Release: ALK Technologies
I would assume you could purchase it from here: Amazon.co.uk: copilot live 7 - Electronics & Photo: Electronics & Photo
And it should work perfectly.
Right?

I know this is a little belated, but I have some info for CoPilot:
The Blackberry version which will be downloadable with a monthly fee (just like Garmin Mobile, Mapquest Navigator, Telenav, etc) should be available within the next month or so (although I have gotten that answer for the past month or two).
ALK (the makers of CoPilot) is also coming out with an actual GPS device (ya know, like Garmin, Tom Tom, Magellan, etc) for truckers as well which will be $399. This will be a couple of months.
I personally like the idea of the downloadble versions because you always end up with the latest maps and can always switch to another brand if you don't like it.
I don't think that is the 'new' garmin solution. That is the older one. The new one is just a bluetooth gps receiver and access to the garmin software, which pulls the maps through data.
