I would like to save my contacts to my memory card.
Could someone explain the process to facilitate this task?

    Thanks.

You're coming from Symbian, right? Sorry, there is no such functionality on the Blackberry. Like dictoresno said, the only way to save your contacts is via BB Desktop Manager.

when i first got my BB, i retyped all 230 or so contacts into the BB manually. it was easier to get it all in the proper format that worrying about swapping contacts over. then i saved them as a backup file.

The contacts use a portain of your memory, so long has you have plenty of memory there is no need to worries about space. You can back it up as said before, or you can also sync the contacts to outlook or another program (gmail does this wirelessly I am told) there are more then a few programs that do this.
