- I've actually noticed something. The contacts that were doubling for me were always the same. So I noticed it was the same contacts in my sim contacts. When I deleted the ones on my sim it stopped doubling. This may help if you guys are having trouble.

Posted via CB1004-03-14 09:38 PMLike 0 - Mine has now doubled the last names of more than half of my contacts.. I just can't win
They now show contacts as
John Smith Smith
Or
John Doe Doe
Anything to fix that or do I have to go into every contact and delete the second 'last name'?

I've noted several things:
- The "conflicts" are simple - The Q10 adds a field called "hashtag value" to every contact (29 char hex) and inputs a value, then can't find it in Outlook, even after sync using the device data. I don't know why.
- BB10 adds contacts from e-mails in single quotes rather than finding the existing contact (John Doe and 'John Doe' are not the same - the firstname and lastname fields contain the quote).
- I have 4 contacts in my SIM (all carrier links) and they are the only ones that do NOT propagate like rabbits during sync. In fact they don't appear in Outlook at all, which is fine.
- BB10 appears to add a separate contact with unformatted phone numbers 1112223333 instead of (111) 222-3333.
- The duplicate entries do not contain any additional info from the Outlook contact - I use contact notes extensively to record customer's equipment model and serial numbers, for example. Even address is ignored.
I like the Q10 just fine, although the reception at home is poor. I'm in a carrier "dead spot" and can barely receive or send calls at home. Not at all if I'm in the basement office. This is carrier though - the phone works great elsewhere. My 9630 wasn't as bad, but the problem was there. I won't switch carriers though - the other Canadian carriers don't work in the boonies, and I spend too much time on the job there to be without a phone.
I'm linked to my main customer via their BES as well as my own desktop. I have no problem at all connecting with the BES, and no sync issues either, as I am working on the customer's system in real time.
I'm not a twit, I don't have my face in a book, in fact I'm not very social at all - I use my phone to make and receive calls, texts, and e-mails; and I drive and work (about a 1:1 ratio most days) with my Bluetooth headset in my ear. My only complaint is that female robot that always says "What do you want to do", "Do you want to call 'xxx' now?", and "Calling 'xxx' at home (or work, or whatever)" on EVERY call. Half the time I need to voice dial by number because of the duplicate contacts. Bring back the old voice app please!
Except for the bit about the voice, this is not a rant. I listed the sync problems to provide info that someone might find helpful toward a proper resolution. Does BB monitor this forum?
Thanks for listening - posted from my desktop - bigger keys are easier for old fingers.
