If I'm not mistaken, CR employs a wide range of criteria including customer returns and defects, rebuilds, recalls, etc. I'm not sure it means they rate it low with respect to its performance alone.

Consumer Reports got paid off. That's what it seems like to me. Everyone that has a Berry loves it, people who have those other phones and migrate over to Berrys say they prefer the Berry...yet they give them low scores? It doesn't make any sense. As soon as I saw they had the Wing up there I knew something was foul.

If you read my OP, I said I still love my Curve 8330....

The low ratings were a surprise to me.
Me as well, dibbc. And, the Saga is supposed to be like the Blackjack - nice features on it.

I had to use both a BlackJack and a Moto Q9c this holiday. It's a pitty even the owners of these two phones could not work them well enough to transfer files and such.. Me being known as the tech in my Family was asked to work on the phones to free up memory to allow ring tones and songs to be bluetoothed to and fro.....
I hated theQ9c and the BlackJack....BlackBerry is by far the easiest. My cousins played with my pearl and loved it both are thinking of trading in when they get home....
Consumer Report prints in favor of the largest paying add so with a BlackBerry basicly selling itself of course the other SORRY phones would get higher reports to help promote the sales because Consumer Reports was PAID OFF. If they actually tried every product they claim then half the Junk Phones would be in a lake where they belong.

    Thank you and good day

The wing was in the top!!!!!! I can't believe that. You couldn't open the camera app without the phone complaining. How about horrible lagging between apps. Winmo 5 was horrible and if you were to update to winmo 6 you would crash the phone.
Memory sucked, apps sucked, call quality sucked, switching apps sucked. I can't tell you how many times I had to do a battery pull on all of my wings. I finally went to sprint and this curve is the best phone I have ever owned so far.
I hate CR they even rated my tv poorly but if you talk to anybody that has had it says it is better than any tv that they have known.
I don't listen to them anymore. I just go by cnet now

Just read the latest issue of Consumer Reports, they rate the Blackberrys at the bottom of their list, especially the Curve 8330's.

Their top rated was the Samsung Blackjack, can't say I've heard of that one although I'm sure it's popular and I don't really keep up to date with all the latest phone technology.

I still love my Curve 8330, but makes me wonder if there really is something "better" out there. Or does Consumer Reports not know what they're talking about?!

    Edit:
    Top five rated were:
    Samsung Blackjack II
    T-Mobile Wing
    Motorola Moto Q9c
    T-Mobile Shadow
    Pantech Duo
That is because most consumers who purchase the BB only got it to "keep up with the jones'". Soccer moms get these things and have no idea how to use them. It is more of a status symbol than anything. I get about 30 of them a week in my store, all sorts of coach and louis vitton hanging off of them. They throw the phone on the counter and say, "I hate this (insert bb model here), fix it." It's really too bad most consumers are too stupid to read the instructions and research a device before using it lol.

They also didn't rate anything in the security/encryption, push email service, data service/uptime, full internet vs mobile web, etc items, probably because they figure most "average" people don't necessarily care about that sort of stuff.

Consumer reports needs to be taken with a grain of salt with everything and always base things on multiple different sources if you can.

Like Arkide said, Consumer Reports is run by CONSUMERS so they tend to grade things according to how a "Consumer" not a "Business Professional" would use them. We have several people at work that have the BlackJack and wish that they had gotten a blackberry instead.
Just remember that if it was called "Professional Reports" that the results would probably be different.

I cant believe that Motorola is at the top five instead of bottom five. This is my first BB and I have had a lot different phones and it is by far the best phone! Those consumers that did this report have not experience the BlackBerry's lifestyle!

Not really following the logic here. What are business professionals not
consumers. Whether it is a construction worker or an executive anyone who
purchases anything (including their phone) is a consumer. And are you saying
business professionals are somehow more enlightened with regard to technology
than everyone or most everyone else?

Those consumers that did this report have not experience the BlackBerry's lifestyle!
God, I almost threw up reading that. BlackBerry Lifestyle. Get real.
