Chances are, you computer does not have bluetooth functionality. If it does, you should be able to add a bluetooth device even without BDM. Click start menu, and search bluetooth. The function should come up, assuming you have the hardware.

Ok, cool. When I do that I get a pop up on the Dell that says transfer files using Bluetooth.

    That's all.

it *should* be able to connect, but it is possible you have a weird stack of sorts. What are you trying to do?

How do I know? I got in this past December. If it doesn't have one, I'll get an adaptor.

Ah ha. Thanks for walking me through that check! Nope, no Bluetooth icon there. And I also checked in setting in that box to see if it was just hidden.

I'll get an adaptor! Thanks for your help.

What can I do with the BT connection?

I see on my tether app the option for a BT connection. Would that be faster than a USB connection?

The bluetooth connection will generally be slower than usb and will drain your battery faster.

The bluetooth connection will Allow you to sync your PIM data but not pictures/video or music

Just use the usb cable, your phone gets charged at the same time too plus you can backup and synch

Also you need to check what's in the Bluetooth stack - have you got Bluetooth to listen to your handset only or can you transfer data...??

The adapter can be used for tethering but while not tethered you can send/recive files between your phone and laptop
