I want to use apps that require BES/BIS (facebook, gmail) on my BB Curve 8520, using purly wifi, since I don't have any voice/data service plan.

I read that I can run all those apps by changing my APN in my TCPIP settings.

What would I change my APN to if I'm connected to my wifi network (Comcast)?

I think you should be able to use the mobile versions of these applications. An example is m.facebook.com You can use the Internet Browser (In Options get to Applications > Browser > Default Browser Configuration > "Internet Browser").

However, I have no idea about the APN setting. I assume it can be blank, since you're not using a carrier, but I will watch for anyone more knowledgeable to answer.

If you want to use the RIM supplied apps you will require a BB date feature at minimum. Without it you have no data connectivity to the BIS which is needed.
