Dunno. Sounds lame. I mean Microsoft owns Skype!! Can any techno experts explain if this is a problem for the BB OS10?
Alec Saunders used to work for MSFT. I'm sure he's working his inside contacts to get Skype on BB10
Could also be that the carriers don't like Skype on devices that they subsidize.
I wish they had it on the Playbook.
That's kinda why I ditched the Playbook & got an Android tab...for skype & other video calling.
They do need skype on blackberry's and the BB 10 device to be released next year should come with a front facing camera

I'd say the delay is more due to the fact why bother releasing in on a non bb10 phone, so, no rush.
I call:
BINGO!!!!
Sprint DOESN'T subsidize my pb.
No they don't, but if it works on your PB then you'll still use Skype instead of a conventional call PLUS if it works on pb then it will also work on a BB10 phone.
I can imagine the carriers hate Skype and anything even remotely like it.
Whether carriers hate Skype or not doesn't seem to be the real issue since it's still available on Android and carriers are selling those phones like hot cakes.
There ya go...
The article is simply wrong, Microsoft changed the architecture or Skype it no longer relies on user "Super Nodes" the super nodes now run on Linux boxes hosted by Microsoft, here is the article:Microsoft Replaces Skype Supernodes for Linux Boxes | Microsoft Using Linux in Skype Network.
Also I believe Microsoft said that WP7 has the ability to run Apps in the background, it's just that this functionality is not available to developers and can be made available on request, so seeing that they own Skype this wouldn't be a problem.
It's on iPhone as well. :D

the fact is that i can call using voip on my sprint 9930 using others apps such as mobilevoip, or use skype on android or iphone without any issues means this has NOTHING to do with the carriers.
I hate to be the rational voice here but there is no business case whatsoever for skype to develop an app for two obsolescent operating systems namely os7 and QNX...
Now, given that BB10 introduces new development tools and a simpler easier way to develop apps for the new BB10 taht goes on PB and BB phones then it is FAR more likely to be appearing in the next 6 months... .
I thought the word on the CB-street was that there would be no Skype app per se, but rather skype integration into an enhanced video chat app (and I'm guessing bbm for text chat, though I've not seen anything corroborating that on the site or elsewhere).
