    Hello Everyone!
With Christmas approaching a month away I was considering giving my wife and daughter a new BlackBerry! We'll deserved I feel. Wanted to give my wife a Z30 but she really likes the Q10 so that's more than likely it will be. My daughter the Q5. Great gifts?

The Z10 is almost the same price than the Q5 in amazon right now, I would give her (your daughter) the Z10 instead unless she want's physical keyboard

@TioPepe78...yea she like the physical keyboard like myself. I have the Q10.
@Bold...Whats wrong with the Q5? Not a good choice? She's a pre-teen so I figured the Q5 over the Q10. Don't know anyone who had the Q5 to ask their opinion on the device.

They are great gifts if the two recipients think so. If you believe they will like them then go for it. You know them...we do not. Merry Christmas to you and your family

The Q5 didn't meet up to satisfactory standards? Whats the downfall to the device?

The q5 is great. But the z10 is the best. Up to her if she wants on keyboard or all touch screen. I'd stay away from the q10, just because of the loose battery issue. I went thru 3 q10's. Everytime i put the phone down alittle roughly, the phone would reboot.. pretty dangerous stuff.. cuz of course the reboot time is lengthy.

Can't trust the q10. The q5 has a non removable battery.. i could throw the phone on the floor as hard as I can.. and the phone would break before actually rebooting.

My Q10 never rebooted. Anyway if your daughter is like 12-14 years old maybe she'll prefer the Z10 because of his multimedia capabilities (larger screen, the possibility to watch videos more comfortably, and more games). But if she's not ready (as I am not) for a full touch the Q5 will be fine (maybe red )!

I have the Z10 and my daughter loves the camera for selfies. My daughter wants the Q5 because she likes a physical keyboard. She has had two touch screens. If her latest phone dies, I will consider a BlackBerry for her now that the price has gone down. She might end up with the Q10 since we r with Tmobile.

I haven't had this happen but the same issue with three (3) phones would cause me cause for concern too. Now, about this "putting it down a little roughly" business

Nothing wrong with it lol. The Z10 is a touch screen device plain and simple, if she would prefer a keyboard the Q5 is obviously better.

Hate to say it, because it takes away from the Christmas Surprise factor, but take them phone shopping! Go somewhere that has demos for all 3 and let them choose.

I gave my kids each a z10. They are 7 and 11. The only thing that the q5 has is different colors. That might be important to her but otherwise I would get the q10.

I have the Q10 myself and I've had that issue with the battery rebooting a few times also! Learned to place it down somewhat softer.

If the OP's daughter is in school and does presentations, the BlackBerry Z10 is the best choice. However, if she won't be given presentations get her the BlackBerry Q5 and a 64 GB microSD card. That is unless she will be web surfing on the smartphone much of the time. The loss of the microHDMI port on the BlackBerry Q5 is dumb.

I think the extra $100 is worth the q10. It's like getting an iPhone 5c

If she has been extra deserving you could get her a BlackBerry Z10 and Q5 off-contract with a shared microSIM.
