Dear berries, this is a serious question which is in my mind for years. I m happy to explore this in a platform like crackberry.
Currently I own a BlackBerry z30 and I used to charge my cell phone when I go to bed and unplug the charger in the morning. I mean more than 6 hours in charger point. Does this affect the battery. I have heard the battery will get damaged if doing so, but I have less options. Please clarify my doubt. Thanks.

I'm not a specialist, but i have used Z10 for one year, Z30 for two weeks and several. BlackBerry devices before that. I've never noticed any damage in batteries and i always charge the whole night like you (6 - 8 hours).

No the phone should regulate the battery's charging cycle on its own. It won't harm your battery. It may stop charging for a while so as not to charge and discharge constantly when 100% is reached. You may wake up and see it at 99% sometimes. That's normal. I have always charged my phones at night and never had an issue with battery life.

According to BatteryUniversity.com leaving the battery on a charger all night long will not cause harm.

I don't think there's any long lasting effects of leaving the phone on the charger overnight. I feel like it's a myth that we all grew up hearing. The batteries don't go beyond capacity when charging and it's just chilling on the charger once it reaches 100%.

Yup, you should be good to charge it overnight. My Z10 is still going strong, bought in February last year, plugged in almost every night, overnight, 6-9 hours each time. No worries

In the case of the z10, it's all good.
You'll notice that when you are fully charged, but remain plugged in, the battery icon gets two prongs sticking out of it on the side. That means it's taking power right from the source, not the battery. this is to avoid the battery dropping to 99 then charging up to 100 and down again to 99 etc, all night.
