I won't put it in standby. In fact, when I am on an overseas call for a couple hours at a time I will just leave it plugged into the charger and use the headset that comes with it to conduct the call. Wires everywhere but I can talk for as long as I like.

Nope, I drop it into it's charging pod when I go to bed, automatically switches to the clock and enters bedside mode, wakes me up with it's alarm in the morning all fully charged and ready for the day. Job done.

I turn mine off when I go to bed and plug it in to charge. It's for my convenience and I don't want to be woke up.

haha, good point for most people, I'll be honest though I'm still using the standard preset alert tones and I've not been woken up by late night emails at all, well, that's a lie, the first night I got it before I worked out that I could turn the status LED off if it was set to bedside, that light is scarily bright in a dark room and woke me even though I sleep like a log through the audiable alerts.

I will admit this is the best phone I've used to double as an alarm clock, especially with the charging pod I'm considering binning my normal bedside clock.

I charge it at night, and it goes into "bedside" mode.
I also charge it when I'm on the phone a lot (like at the office), and use my BT headset and Blurt. Total hands off the berry!

During the day I don't put it in standby when charging. While
sleeping I simply shut it off. Anyone who really needs to reach
me knows my landline number. I also have a real alarm clock.

No standby either, just drop it into the charging dock. I sleep like the dead, so if it goes off during the night I never hear it.

I don't stand by my Blackberry when it is charging. That seems like it would be a waste of a few hours. I'd rather do something else.

I set the profile to "off" and plug in the wall/USB charger. It's set to go into the "bedtime" clock dispaly mode. Then I stand it up in a business card holder so that I can see the clock.

I think for the storm 9530 to go into standby mode you have to put it in a case with a magnet it doesnt have a button at the top as my curve(8330) does .

    PS: I read that here
