I love the App...works well and native and now the taxpayer funded CBC shuts it down. How expensive / hard is it to keep this running?

Are they referring to BlackBerry OS or BlackBerry 10?

Another one saying....... blackberry wants you to use android apps so were done with native. It's cheaper to not supply you with support.

The CBC app is just a wrapper to the mobile site. I actually like this one better.

The native app is better...you can just scroll left to right through stories, very smooth. I think it is a well done native experience...it's a shame

It still works, but you get a message in a red banner that says that they are not supporting the app anymore for BlackBerry users and direct you to their mobile site that defaults to the Ottawa area. OK for Ottawa residents I guess.

Yep. That is what I normally do. Scroll from side to side. Maybe their mobile site that they refer you to will be improved.

If you open up the app, you will see a red banner with the following "Important Message for BlackBerry users " you may have to scroll down to see the message. Once you see the banner click on it an dut will redirect you to cbc's site with a message to BlackBerry users.

I'm sorry, but to those saying "just use the android app" and/or "the browser is fine"... I hope you are not in charge of anything important. It's not the same, and your high-complacency attitude is actually a lack of backbone. Let the retorts fly, I don't care.

This is ridiculous. I'm using a Canadian product... where is the support for things Canadian?

What are they supposed to do? Wage a war and fight for the CBC app on BlackBerry 10? Very rarely has BlackBerry users complaining and crying about a lack of apps ever resulted in anything from an app developer. BlackBerry? Well they listen. App developers? Not so much.

And what does being Canadian have to do with anything? Business is business no matter what country you're from or in.

What about the side to side scrolling on the native app? Doesn't appear to be available on the generic mobile site.

I'm actually quite disappointed in the taxpayer funded CBC in not supporting a Canadian company. Now if the Cbc is closing all specific apps, then it is understandable, but if they are just targeting blackberry users, that wouldn't be right. Apart from crack berry of course , Cbc news is about the only app I use on a regular basis.

I complained to the CRTC when CBC did not have a BB10 app for the winter Olympics or for " Canada's Smartest Person", just for iOS and Android. They did not do anything but it got their attention and they wrote back to me. It would be harder for them to not act on multiple complaints. http://crtc.gc.ca/eng/contact.htm

The mobile HTML 5 webapp works great and dare I say better than the BB10 app. All companies, public or private, would like to move to a common platform. It just makes sense. I use the CBC app constantly and I like the mobile site. This is the future.

CBC is 100% Canadian tax payer funded, it's not a private broadcaster.

I hear the IT geniuses at the CBC don't even offer BlackBerry devices as options for their employees. Android and iPhone devices only. Brillant choices for the news division in particular. Not supporting the app is therefore not surprising.
