I have always been partial to the holster that comes with the device or a leather sleeve. I don't really like skins anymore.

holsters are, obviously better as protection, but I dont like to have to take the phone out the holster everytime you wanna use it, or get called etc. Thats why im more for the skins, but hard cases for optimum protection like, seidio, otterbox, case mates,

Taking the phone out of the holster or sleeve is a disadvantage. But I also like to see the device for what it is. I think that the skins take away from the look and feel of the device. I also like holsters because I can carry my phone around with me easily. The leather sleeve fits perfectly in my inside jacket pocket. Skins are good if you have your phone out all the time (laying on your desk, counter top, in the car using the GPS, or listening to music).

Yeh but whenever you use the phone, you will have two items to hold, the holster and the phone (or take the effort to put it down somewhere or back in your pocket again). I find that highly annoying.
And besides that, as for the looks, i just start to use the case mate smooth on my 9700 and to be honest, it just looks great and it feels magnificent! The case around the phone gives it a robust and tuff look, and in this, it adds something to the phone, something i like very much, just my two cents

This is all about personal tastes and preference seems to me. I love the leather sleeve. No skins for me and the holster was too bulky and annoying. There are lots of products out there to allow for personal preferences to be satisfied.

If you are needing a protective case, I would go with the otterbox. Great quality and protection. Also they have a great warranty and customer service. I just got a otterbox commuter case for my 9700 and I love it. I was not a big fan of putting my 9000 in a case. Just used the OEM holster.

I've used Seidio on three different devices now and like them for protection and looks.

I use the Sedio hardcase with the holster belt clip. I used the Sedio case w/ a leather pouch but found it didn't put the phone in the sleep mode. I now have to charge my 8330 every other day.

me too wanted the otterbox or seidio, but they are not available here in the Netherlands, only the case mate smooth (hard case), which I have.

note: me cat pushed my 9700 off the piano, which is about 1,5m high, and fell on a hard ground, im so glad I had the case around it, nothing happened. *sigh*

The Otterbox is the best case for the BB. I currently have a Commuter and love it. The silicone skin protects it from not only drops, but from the case as well. The Seidio 360 had no inner protection as the BB was directly against the hard plastic case. The top and bottom of my 9700 are now scratched from it.

Seidio Innocase II would give you great protection and is also thin.

And after all, it's just a phone, an utility object, and since we are not that materialistic, who cares about a scratch or two?
