The only BlackBerry out there that is capable of doing this at the moment is the Bold.

Sorry, but that is incorrect information. I can send and receive SMS all day long while on the phone on my Curve 8330 on Alltel/Verizon.

To the OP, this has been noted as an intermittent issue on the Sprint Network with BlackBerry devices. It has to do with how the network interacts with the BlackBerry.

There's nothing that you can do about it unfortunately.

Yea, I have noticed this problem yesterday but the day before me sending text while on the phone was a breeze. So, maybe it does have something to do with the network and how its reacting with the servers.

Yeah, I had that issue once, and called and they had changed a setting on my alltel account. Took a few levels in to support to get someone that saw it tho.

I'll figure that Sadistic just was thinking "data". And yeah, the bold is the only simul data/voice unit out that I'm aware of as well.

It may be the carrier.. Or a carrier problem.. I have a 8900 with T-Mobile and I can still send and receive text.
One thing I am not able to do is retreive emails and that stuff.. Due to EDGE.

I was told unless I was in at least a 1XEV signal area that I wouldn't be able to send and receive e-mail while I was on a call. Is this right?

I want to text while talking on phone, smoke a cigarette, read the paper, do my hair, eat breakfast while driving? Is there any apps to help me?

Only on the iPhone: "There's an app for that."
