Can we stop lying to ourselves?
- The Z30 was the last hardware misfire of the Thorsten Heins era, following in the footsteps of the failed Q5. It's something BlackBerry needed to contractually follow through with. There's been nearly no marketing of the handset and it's overpriced in relation to the specs.
No manufacturer ever releases a new flagship with lower specs than the previous one. Certain parts of the community were hoping for a progression. The Z30 definitely was not.
The only thing we can do is hope for improved successor to the Z30 but that's not on BlackBerry's agenda right now.01-26-14 09:03 AMLike 0 -
- First 64 bit mobile processor and OS implemented on a mobile device.
- Processor designed in house, not a COTS solution like everyone else.
With Apple you pay a premium and get a premium device, support, etc. BlackBerry with the Z30, and the Z10 when it was introduced, are giving you a middle range device based on the internal components, with no dedicated support network, weak app catalog, and want you to pay premium for it. I think the sales numbers for all BB10 devices have shown how well this strategy has been received and working.

Again I say, how many people before getting iphones really turn and check the benchmark scores for the chip set? Even if they did, most don't know what it is exactly measuring.

What good is a screen that you can't look at for more than a few hours without it going dead? I'll take the lower resolution screen with great battery life over a higher quality screen that makes the phone a paper weight because of battery issues.
Posted via CB10 on my Z mfk'n 10!01-26-14 09:27 AMLike 0 - I can on a Z30. I can see jagged icons and I can see the pixels. As I said, the number is disputed. And since I can see pixels, I don't think that 300ppi is the number

Z30 on 2.2.1.1925 in Canada01-26-14 09:53 AMLike 0 - kbz1960Doesn't MatterI think when someone who isn't a tech geek or fan of anything goes to look at new phones and is shown what is available most won't even be shown a BBRY and the sales person will talk about specs and ecosystems. If they even carry BBRY phones will the sales person even show it? Probably not because what do you tell the person is so great about it? Security that most don't care about? Then what? Unless someone actually asks for a BBRY and even then they try to steer you away from it.
Specs and everything else aside BBRY needs to get carriers on their side and the big box stores. Even BBRY themselves have decided not to market to consumers right now, why is that? Why would they make that decision unless they know that they just can't compete at this time.
Most of us would love to see BBRY make a comeback but its going to take consumers to do that. Otherwise they can do fine as niche player I think. But they will never be popular with consumers unless a huge security breach happens for a lot of people on other platforms. Or they can compete on all levels including support.
I think the only lying one does to themselves on here is thinking that BBRY can compete right now with the competition. Maybe they can some day but for regular consumers right now they don't.01-26-14 09:55 AMLike 3 - Yes, they're truth but that doesn't mean that they have to do with you saying I can't see pixels on the Z30. It's like saying "these boots are leather with 600 gram insulation so there's no way they're a size 9". They're facts but you can't make that conclusion from them.

Totally not a waste with the stock battery and most definitely not if you are smart enough have the 4500mah battery. Been off the charger since 6:43pm yesterday with heavy use and 95% brightness.. Still going strong. The phone ain't configured to read such a high capacity battery that's why it's been showing 0% for the last 4.5hrs.

Smart enough to have a larger battery? Smart enough is buying a device that will last through the day STOCK. People expect these things out of the box, and many do not want to go out and buy more things to make their device work properly.pantlesspenguin likes this.01-26-14 10:22 AMLike 1 - Do I need quad or octo cores?
Well, it'd be nice to have it..
But I don't see my device lagging with only this...
Attachment 241537
Was all the memory left in my phone.
Can an android with similar specs with a Z30 still work without lag with only this is all free memory left?
I doubt it.. but then, I could be wrong.

Also, I don't think any Google Apps on Android are coded so terribly and bloated that things like Hangouts (even with SMS Enabled) are using over 170MB RAM, the Phone App 80MB, and PIM Services over 100MB. That just doesn't happen on Android devices.
Blackberry's developers need to do something about the amount of bloat in their code. It was immediately noticeable when they ported BBM to Android, as the app was using more RAM than anything else on my device except System - even more than other IM clients that did 3x more than it did.JeepBB likes this.01-26-14 10:25 AMLike 1 - Rubbish. Also, with the phone not being able to read how much battery I have left am I supposed to just guess and hope it has power? No thanks and also no thanks to buying some battery from China that may or may not destroy my phone.Last edited by donnation; 01-26-14 at 10:52 AM.
01-26-14 10:40 AMLike 5 - It's not "rubbish". Battery life is one of the worst if not the worst thing about the Z10. My Z10 barely lasts through a work day, and that is with me not using the device as much as I am able to with others. This is with me keeping the brightness at around 25% at all times.

EDIT: Another example that came to mind: back when the Z10 was released, it had a higher PPI than the iPhone 5 and everyone talked about that as a pro saying how the screen was better. But now that the Z30 has a significantly lower PPI than the competition it suddenly makes no difference.

"A phone without a removable battery is junk" - BlackBerry releases the Z30 and it's OK all of a sudden to not have removable batteries in phones.JeepBB likes this.01-26-14 10:46 AMLike 1
