The last few days of the thread, where it went off the rails, has been cleaned up. Posts that included trolling comments, insults, off-topic comments (etc.) -- and where such comments were quoted -- have been deleted.

As seems the original topic of the thread has been exhausted, and I expect only more argumentative posts would appear, this thread will remain closed to prevent escalation. To all involved, please do not carry the baggage over to another thread.
