Then you clearly haven't used a DTEK60.
It is a uniquely BlackBerry experience IMHO.

In what way? I have been using my dtek50 for a week and I would hardly call it a uniquely BlackBerry experience. It's basically a stock Android phone with an app that tells you which apps are stealing your data, and a hub simulator app that aggregates your email, text, and BBM messages. It does preserve that little chime from BB10 though.
Beyond the app suite that is available to others, BlackBerry Android gets the genuine BlackBerry virtual keyboard, the productivity tab to enable peek, the BB10-style task switcher screen, the swipe up gestures, the quick updates, and provides the confidence that rogue apps are not going to gain elevated privileges through a persistent root.
The whole experience is unique to Android, and to me, feels like a BlackBerry one.
BlackBerry.....
For sure the PKB design is what people think of when they hear the name BlackBerry.
But I think that what really drove sales and helped define them as BlackBerry was the combination of instant email and great battery life... something that they lost when Activesync came along.
The average consumer couldn't differentiate a dtek 60 from every other phone. What makes you reach for a BlackBerry on the shelf because it looks different? A keyboard.
I'd bet that most people considering the mercury are doing it for the keyboard, which is the single point of differentiation.
You've changed the question a bit then.
What you are now asking is: what would catch the eye of a customer that knows little about what BlackBerry is currently offering.
I think the statement to make should be "the Blackberry Physical keyboard is what identifies a Blackberry moreso than any other physical characteristic AFTER the glass slabs became the industry and societal norm."
-sent from a beautiful Bold 9900
come on guys - you need to take whole package into consideration for BB handset (software and hardware, form fit function, UI, price, reliability - drop test for example), not pick and choose Key board vs VKB is silly. it is like you want actor A eyes, plus actor B mouth, and actor C nose... you got an ugly face by default. BB provide you with full package, you like it because it design (that including form fit function, design consideration of audio that can do conference call, antenna can function in the basement, key board if you wish to type faster - not for everybody, some would like voice commend like facebook CEO, the other, quiet one refuse to say a word even facing each other - prefer text rather than audio... BB provide option you can select... except BB10 force you to side load now and then. To define a BB? it is unique and different.. beauty is in the eyes of be holder.... if you don't like the design - all the function, form, look, UI, fluidity, app...etc. are by design. tough luck. take it or leave it... (I am taking it ;0
The PKB definitely defines a BlackBerry, if you have to pick one thing. The BlackBerry VKB is awesome. But it is just a screen version of the of the PKB--even to the extent of it looking the same.
PKB is what people think of when they think BlackBerry. IMHO.
Nope.
To me BBOS (OS10 & legacy) defines BlackBerry.
TCL Android BlackBerry is just a Android device with a keyboard.
I'd even prefer a OS10 device without a keyboard over any BlackBerry'Droid-mega keyboard!
AndroidBerry =/= BlackBerry
