In the smartphone war, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) stands alone with its own device and operating system, while Samsungs (SSNLF.PK) devices tear through the market with the aid of Googles (NASDAQ:GOOG) operating system, which powers a number of other devices, and Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) is spotted trying to push into the market with its Windows Phone operating systems, particularly on Nokia (NYSE:NOK) devices.

So, wheres RIM (NASDAQ:RIMM) in this scenario? Wasnt it huge once? Werent BlackBerrys the smart phones before smartphones? Why isnt it a top contender with those other giants?

Well, a little bit of footage shows a new BlackBerry 10 device that could turn things around for RIM in the smartphone market. The device looks a lot like other smartphone devices large touchscreen full of apps and widgets, front and rear cameras, very little in the way of buttons but sports its own operating system, which could give it a leg-up in the smartphone market. Also, BlackBerry is expected to a release a device with a full hardware keyboard, a key feature for those people who cant stand on-screen keyboards.

One feature that may win the new Blackberry a space in peoples hearts is the unique dual personal and work modes, which separate data from business and personal apps for extra security of information a feature that may again win BlackBerry a firm spot as the phone of choice the business world it once dominated.

    I love these fabricated premises.

Who "controls" the business phone market now, that RIM would have to steal it?
