will blackberry protect work, ie, send a display message, find location, lock device, etc, even if I block my SIM card after my blackberry device is stolen? Does the device require the same registered mobile number to carry out these action?

If you blocked the SIM, it's not connected to a network, thus rendering the phone unreachable. It can't work.
