So I am looking to upgrade from a z10 to a z30 and was wondering if there are any major differences within the z30 range. For example i know there are a few differences between the z10 stl 100-1 and the stl 100-3.

Guess it depends on who your provider is and what country you are in to know which models work best, btw, I just bought one myself

Bigger screen, better speakers, slightly quicker. That's basically it.

At first when I made the switch to the Z30 I found it a bit difficult to get accustomed to the larger size of the phone. But after awhile I got used to it.

Just get the Z30. For the sake of class, better battery life and speakers.

OP is not asking IF s/he should upgrade to Z30 but asking whether there is a substantive difference between versions of the Z30.

Get the STA-5 unlocked you can't go wrong. It's cheap now and worth every penny. The difference is minimal in terms of OS In comparison to the Z10 but things like the reception with the Paratek antenna and longer battery life, speakers etc is phenomenal. Like I have said many times, its the best kept secret from BlackBerry (the Z30).
In terms of the range within the Z30 range would be carrier dependent but I suggested the STA100 -5 as its the better "global device ".

Indeed, I faced this issue when I was able to use my unlocked "global" GSM Classic overseas, but not my beloved Verizon STA100-3 Z30. This unlocked Z30 would be good if you used Verizon, but wanted the flexibility of using this model with an at&t SIM card on the latter's network, so long as its Band 4 coverage is plentiful where you live. But if you want to use an unlocked Z30 on T-Mobile or at&t's networks, or even as a global phone outside the US, then the STA100-5 would be the better way to go for the OP.

Z30 is way better than the Z10. I have had Z10, Z30 and now the Passport.

Screen isn't nearly as good as the Z10. It's dim and washed out, which does help preserve battery life. Nice stereo speakers and good build quality save for the crap plastic buttons on the side which have way too much give to them. In short it is a good upgrade from the Z10, if nothing else for the improved battery.

2012 camera tech works for some people. For people who have used current gen devices there are too many compromises in taking pics of moving subjects and poor lighting.

Yeah, I hate the Z30 camera, which is why I drifted to a Nokia 909 a/k/a Lumia 1020 with its awesome but slow 41MP camera a couple of years ago. Nowadays, I use the Camera++ app on both my Z30 and Classic. While it works well, my go-to camera device is still my iPhone 6 Plus.

I guess if you have to rely on the camera to take the picture for you, then you might need something more advanced.

The best camera is the one available for the shot which means the smartphone for most everyone. Hardly anyone feels to need to bring along a separate camera anymore because smartphone cameras have replaced most of the use case for the typical consumer. Z30 has great battery, great sound, good build, but meh screen and meh camera. It is what it is for 4 year old hardware.

I've heard this comment from many people and I've had both devices myself. Frankly, I just don't see the big difference between the two screens and I certainly didn't notice anything when I made the switch.

I'll add that I know that their specs are different. So the screens must be by default. I cannot notice it though.

    8.) FM Radio antenna
    Z10 - No
    Z30 - Yes.

Miracast is a very big difference if you want/need to stream videos wirelessly to newer "smart" TV's.
