I am getting a new (in box, never turned on) bold off craigslist for $350.
I am paranoid about getting a bad ESN/PIN or that something is horribly wrong with it..
Since it's a new phone, is it possible that it could be stolen and have a bad esn? Or do ESN issues only apply to used phones? Also, is $350 a reasonable price for a new bold? Sorry for the newb questions I am completely new to buying phones off craiglist, any help is appreciated!

It sounds GREAT, if its true.

Agree to have the seller meet you at your local carriers shop, and have him/her wait there while its activated.

No money should change hands until your phone is cleared by the carrier.

350 for a 9700 is a ripoff. I would wait till the 9780 comes out so the prices can drop on the 9700.

I live in CA and you can find the 9700 Brand new in a box for 250-275

That is what I would expect if I were to get one off craigslist. Not going to risk getting half a blackberry (pin lock) from an as$hole lol

Almost all of the people I have seen getting ripped off buying BlackBerries have purchased them from someone on Craigslist. Beware.

whooa there doggie.. are you getting a 9700? or a 9650? a 9700 will not have a ESN, which signifies it is a CDMA phone. just make sure you get the correct Radio variant 9700/GSM & 9650/CDMA.

And i've bought several phone from Craigslist.org and have "0" problems with any of them. in fact the phone i am using now is a Craigslist phone.
