Is The Pear Flip The Final Destination of the Pearl?

Or Will The Original Pearl Get Its Own Makeover?

Personally feel the flip concept was the wrong way to go. I would rather see a redone original pearl.

Not that I ever had a high opinion of the Pearl, But I think that if time was put into developing it, it could come into it's own.

I think it will be the end of the line for the Pearl. Unless they come up with a 3G Pearl. But other than that, I don't know what else they can do. Full QWERTY?

I'm Not Sure If RIM Would Flat Out Discontinue The Current Pearl Style Of Phone-

I'm Just Curious If RIM Is Considering The Pearl Flip The Ultimate "Evolution" Of The Current Pearl Model.

The Curve 8900 Got A Full Revamp, And 3G Wasn't Included-

Personally I think it would be stupid for RIM to phase out the Pearl... simply for the fact that they're the only BB that's compact with what a BB is capable of in a size of a 'regular' mobile phone. I guess we'll see...

This link (gizmodo.com/5117980/leaked-2009-blackberry-roadmap-hints-at-touchscreen-bold-storm-slider) says that there'll be updated pearls in 2009.

I think the original pearl will get a makeover. The Flip is a version of the Pearl, but I do not feel it is the final destination. At least, I hope not.

I haven't actually used the pearl flip, but i do think it's a nice looking BB.
I may be the only one with that conclusion, but that's alright :-P

A Pearl slider might have a nice compact format.

Quite like the Flip, but have yet to see a folder that's as size efficient as a candy bar phone.

Perhaps upsize the Pearl so that it shares the keyboard size with the Flip version.

I think that eventually the Pearl will go away from the flip version. Part of a Blackberry is it NOT being a flip!

A larger screen, more memory, high res screen, 3G, better camera, and a faster processor would probably do well. I don't think the Pearl line is done with.

i just hope they revamp the pearl and it would be nice if they keep offering both options. the sales will determine which route RIM will take.

I hope they make a new Pearl - the flip is horribly ugly, bulky and overreated in my opinion. (And yes I've used it and its uglier in person) it reminds me of the first cordless phones in the 80's. Now compare it to the original pearl when it came out which was compact, sleek, powerful (for its time) and stylish.

I hope RIM learns that If they update a phone and carry over the name they continue that phones legacy and userbase...83xx to 8900 is a prime example of doing it right and 81xx to 82xx is doing it wrong...

Let's just hope they get it right next time.

Yeah. My last phone was an 8100 and it broke like 6 months ago... i really want to get another blackberry, and if it's only going to be a few months, i would rather get a redesigned candybar pearl. i used the flip, and it was awesome, but it just didnt feel the same. not to mention i love the suretype keyboard

A actually really like the pearl (8100), I have a Bold too but like to use the pearl sometimes. The size is just great, fits into the pocket nicely.
