if qualcom is in this bid, and they all plan to keep blackberry together...this may turn out very good. qualcom boast's of some nice tech.

I agree. This could be one of the better outcomes to the situation that bb is in.

Its obvious the co founders of blackberry do not want to see this company sold and then scrapped for pieces. I'm glad to hear they wanna take it back and try to turn things around. If this happens, I just hope they do it smart and not rush things.

I hope you're right and it's not some kind of asset-stripping exercise.

Qualcomm makes the Snapdragon chips used in many mobile devices.

Or maybe it's a play on "Oh snap!(dragon)"

Meanwhile Watsa has failed to secure the financing he needs to acquire BlackBerry so this news couldn't have come at a better time.

It's best for BlackBerry to go back to its true owner anyway.

I don't think Fairfax or Prem Watsa really wanted the company anyway they just want their money back and creating a bidding war by announcing plans to purchase the company for a sub book value price caused that to happen.

QC involvement will suck..They dont follow through properly with software side of things.
Look at their mobile device tracking system.. years of falling behind an then they just sold it after leaving lots of in limbo with issues.. Hopefully the new owners of that division will run it better then QC did.

I used to love my old Qualcomn phone that had a track wheel....kind of like BlackBerry used to have...that was before Qualcomn got out of the handset business.

    Maybe they want back in?

I'm no analyst but this does sound like a move to keep the BlackBerry brand alive and perhaps to invigorate it. It sounds more promising than most of the other rumors we've heard.
