So I bought a Chuwi Hi 8 tablet that dual boots windows 10 and android. I put all my social media apps on there that I rarely use. This way I don't anxiously and compulsively check my phone constantly to see how many likes I have. To me phones are tools and tablets are toys. So as long as you're phone can make calls "what the telephone was invented for", browse the web, have maps, calculator, other basic functions that come stock, send texts, BBMs or you're IM app of choice which I know whatsapp is going away but to hell with whatsapp anyways. Everyone I'm close to uses BBM. Even two iphone users in my fraternity use BBM as their main messaging service.

But seriously don't let BS apps hold you back from getting a BlackBerry. BlackBerry 10 is the best OS as far as communication and productivity. So the remedy is to buy a $50 to $100 tablet on amazon and check in on it time to time. Honestly the only android apps I have on my passport are my banking app "necessary" and the two amazon apps that cannot be uninstalled. I might even set up text banking to get rid of the banking app anyways.

I have found that the combination of a Passport and Ipad works very well. The Ipad provides all the benefits of a bigger display and app variety while the Passport is the communication tool. Ipad in the briefcase and Passport in the suit pocket.

Keep in mind BlackBerry 10 is also capable of running the latest modern social media apps as well.

But average Joe wants apps to work straight out of the box, not rely on workarounds and jumping through hoops.

Compared with a cripple BB10 and more of it's apps breaking down each day, where does that leave you now? You might as well just throw rocks at people you wish to communicate with. Hope your aim is good.

To be fair, there is a double edged sword with Android... Part of its high adoption is due to an abundance of extremely cheap phones and tablets, but those often offer a horrible experience.

It's why I really love the "fire and forget" nature of Apple hardware. As long as you buy the current or previous years device, you know it will work and work well. It's why most IOS users don't worry about specs. Unfortunately that comes at a high price, but It's worth that price for many. In late 2014 I bought and returned 4 android tablets before I decided to try an ipad mini. 15 months later I've yet to regret this purchase.

I agree that the overall experience on iPhone is higher than Android. Yet, those cheap Android devices sell like hotcakes. They must be providing a fairly good experience I would think.

I got my Z10, I stopped using my PlayBook.

I bought a Windows Tablet, I stopped using my Z10 for much more than basic phone usage.

I bought a Droid Turbo 2, currently I use it and my Windows Tablet... but I will say I'm back to using my smartphone as a smartphone. If my Tablet was Android and not Windows, I'd probably not need the Tablet. But I like having the full Windows experience and being able to use some programs.

Maybe I should do that to. Waiting for the price of the Passport SE to come down and the will buy the SE and a android tablet.

This has me missing my PlayBook.
