I've seen some older posts about calls over Wifi with an ATT phone, but haven't seen anything recent.

Has anyone had any experience with traveling out of the country and successfully making calls over wifi with an app, and not through ATT roaming?

The thing is that I don't think the AT&T branded Bold 9000 is equipped with hardware
for UMA. But I'm not a UMA expert so it's possible that it could somehow be done.
The Rogers Bold 9000 uses UMA and possibly is the exact same build as the ATT one.
It's possible there's a setting on the engineering screen that allows this.

I have a dumb set of questions.
If my phone is unlocked, I should be able to put any sim card in it.
Can I just put a tmobile card in my ATT blackberry bold 9000 so I can make wifi calls through skype or line2 or another service anyone recommends?
Would upgrading my software from v4.6.0.297 to something higher, would that enable me to make wifi calls with my ATT sim card?
What limits the UMA, the software on the phone?
If I can get on wifi with my PC, and use skype or yahoo to make voice calls, why can't someone just create an app that when connected to wifi, access the mic and speaker of the blackberry?
Thanks in advance for any help on this.
