Bluetooth file transfer
Has anyone been able to transfer a file via bluetooth that wasn't an audio or video file? If so how? Also I recently bought a bluetooth adapter for my laptop so i can exchange files and all i can do is transfer from my BB to my laptop and not the other way. Am I doing something wrong or can't the bb curve 8330 not accept files from a computer.

Are you going to Media and pressing Menu on your BlackBerry and selecting "Receive Using Bluetooth"?

I have the exact same problem, never been able to receive files using bluetooth, however I am able to send. Problem has been apparent on all os's I've used. Currently using 4.5.0.124.

ahhhh good pick up Motocycle Mama, much appreciated.

Thanks Motorcycle Mama! Was just about to post a thread complaining that I couldn't receive music using bluetooth.

ah, here is a stupid question. I am using windows vista. I tried to send a vid via transfer to a bluetooth device, but when the list comes up (devices), there is nothing there.
My cruve is paired up with the laptop. I do bluetooth sync (contacts, calendar, etc.) all the time.
What am I missing? Can other files such as excel be sent via bluetooth as well?
Thanks

I have been able to send other types of files from my curve and my laptop (back and forth) including vids. Just make sure to set the phone for media/ receive via bluetooth and you should be set to go. This is assuming the devices are paired. Have you had any luck transferring one way or another?

Jaydee,
How are you actually transfering via bluetooth from your computer to your BB?
-
I find the file I want to transfer, right click the file and choose Send to...Bluetooth. This is assuming I have my Curve 8330 already paired and waiting to receive the file. It works every time.
Now to pair, you have to make sure your have put in the correct passkey to both phone and computer, and that your bluetooth configuration on your berry says you are connected.
Also, your computer is bluetooth enabled, right? I mean, you have used it before for bluetooth transfers? Cause I know my new laptop is bluetooth capable but my old desktop is not....

Jaydee, i use bluetooth all the time to sync my contacts, calander, etc from my phone to my computer. Works great. My devices are paired because of the above. But when I right click a file on my computer and do a "send to", a window comes up and asks what device to send to, but not device is listed.

Chuck,
I don't know what's wrong with your computer. When I turn on bluetooth and also connect to my laptop, I am able to send files in either direction. To receive on your phone... do you go to Media? then hit the menu button and choose Receive using bluetooth?
When I right click on a file to transfer, a dialogue box pops up and says select device. My 8330 is listed there. If it isn't, it says to hit the SEARCH button to search again. Have you tried that? I even see other people's phones in my box!
Let me know if I can still help.

ok, i was trying to send to bluetooth device. when i try sending to "bluetooth", a window does come up and says find a device which it does find the bb. but when i try to open it on the computer, a message comes up and says "service file transfer is NOT found on the device".
Any ideas Jaydee? Your and others help is appreciated!

Ok Chuck, I only get that message when I DON'T remember to choose receive using bluetooth on my berry. You should do that first and THEN right click the file. See if that makes a difference?
