link --> RIM Said Weighing Bid to Top Google Offer for Nortel Patents - Bloomberg
maybe this can bring my shares above $7.00.......
If google wants them bad enough, google gets them. They're sitting on 36 BILLION in cash and equivalents.

When it comes to straight buy outs, I wouldn't go up against Google. Their cash reserves I'm pretty sure is absurd.
Just what I was thinking.
And Barron's today says RIM's shares will rise.
The best that the manufacturer alliance can hope for is to force gooogle to over pay.

I think they should outbid google and grab those patents. They could use the cash flow and it would definitely make them a stronger player, in a game where they are considered weak.
Google isn't afraid to overpay, even to an absurd degree.
Example: YouTube.
But how much do your really think Google will dish out for these patents. I mean, their profits are down because of their hiring and ambitious spending sprees and I think some shareholders are beginning to have concerns over the directions they are taking.
While these patents may be important, do you really think they will pay over a few billion for them?
I completely agree. That's why I said that if google wants it, google gets it.

If they think that they can increase their ad revenue by making this purchase , they will. Practically the only revenue stream they have is selling advertising. They wrote an entire phone os and give it away for free so that they have more places to place ads. If some of those patents will allow them more places to do that, they'll buy it.

google is making sure that nobody "steals" these patents. whoever gets them will have to pay full economic value for them.
