    Hi all,

Some thieving git made off with my blackberry earlier this week. I now have a replacement sim card which unfortunately means that O2 can't block the phone by its IMEI. The phone had a pin code on it - is it effectively useless?

    Thanks!

If the only code on your device was a SIM PIN then all the thief has to do is remove the SIM and insert a different one.

Why can't they blacklist the IMEI?? It's not dependant on sim info...

It was a blackberry security code rather than PIN SIM. O2 said they could only send a kill code to my phone if it had an active sim card in it. A pity. Thanks

O2 can ask RIM to disable the PIN so it becomes a fancy phone that's useless for data.
