Does anyone know when Verizon is going to get a BlackBerry with Wifi? Something other than the Storm 2. I have the Storm and im not fond of it. I can upgrade in Nov and I want to know if one with Wifi will be out by then?

The Storm 2 will be the first VZ BB with WiFi. There will be others after. You will see the next one around Jan/Feb, but maybe get pushed to March.

Well that settles it for me. I'm going to get a Tour if it'll be the end of Q1 2010 to see a BB w/ keyboard and WiFi on VZW. No reason to wait it out with a beat up Curve for that long. Thanks, Radio.

LOL good thing this thread is in the "rumors" section, cause there's pretty much not a single fact in here! These things always come down to speculation, and it's rare that anyone is right on the mark. Best to wait until we get closer and see.
I'll have to do some digging to find the post, but I believe radio himself confirmed the 8530 was the ATLAS. Atlas is the release name, NOT the codename.
So basically the next verizon blackberry to be released after the storm 2 will be the new curve (AKA Aries 8530)? What about the tour with wifi (Atlas)?
WiFi? I'm cracking up. Look at the last few devices. If they did not have WiFi, have you ever asked why? Why would Verizon want to cripple ONLY blackberries if the Omnia had? There is obviously something up, and when reading around, I seem to have come up with a conclusion.
Blackberries tend to have a short life compared to regular phone. Thats because of the functions that the blackberry has and the battery cant do it forever. The average businessman/woman who has a blackberry probably sends 1000+ bbms and texts. He/She sends several emails as well. The average teen may send about 200 bbms and probably 500+ texts. I looked at my school and the majority of kids had voyagers and enVs from Verizon. Now in such a time, parents and teens want to save money because of incoming calls and stuff.
So what I remember reading is that WiFi does take up battery and the average Blackberry user on Verizon has good enough signal, so Verizon deemed it uneeded that WiFi be included, The Omnia does not have a lot of features and it seemed rather "crude" when i saw, like the Dare, with the Smartphone branding.
So what I am saying, is that unless RIM can find a way where the CDMA radios, and all of the features they want include wont drain battery like they do now. You shouldnt expect WiFi, anytime soon.
Wifi browsing is better than 3G browsing. Apps that can be used over wifi in case ur out of a coverage area, for example on a cruise, out of the country etc. It has its uses.

Yes I too have heard of a tour like BB coming with wifi. I'm sure RG knows more, but the signs are good. I think after the Storm 2 most CDMA BBs will have wifi.
