I always heard that the torches are cheap around 270-300 with no contract, is that true?

Because atm I have a droid DNA by Verizon. And I want to get a blackberry without contract so I can wait till the 30th for the new bb10 lines. Because if I keep my current phone for 7 more days I will be locked in contract and I would have to wait 2 years before I can get a bb10 phone or suffer unpayable yet.ination fees!!!!!!!!!!

So any black berry that is affordable will do, but I want a torch primarily so that way I have a phone I can slap my Verizon SIM in and not be in a contract until Jan30.

You may be in the wrong thread, try a thread where items are for sale, better yet check your local classified, that may be quicker.

Try Craig's list, though i don't think any of the torches are compatible with Verizon.

Not compatible? But the torch is Verizon supported according to Rims website. Also, isn't there a international version?

Sorry, I was thinking about the 9800/9810 torches. You have to get the 9850, that is the Verizon version, and the only one Verizon will activate. There are no LTE Blackberries, so no you can't pop your SIM card out and stick it in another device, so the international version won't work.

Wait you said Verizon can activate the torch 9850(and 60?) So what do you mean I can't slap my SIM in?

Are there any links about Verizon/cdma support?

I mean Verizon is CDMA, and Verizon only uses SIM cards for LTE devices, which means any non LTE phone (all blackberries at this moment) have to be CDMA phones and Verizon would have to activate/allow those phones on their network. Only the 9850 (not 9860) would you be able to use on your account. And it would have to be the Verizon model, they won't activate non Verizon phones on their CDMA network.

eBay or in the marketplace you could ask. I found one a month old for less than $200. Still have in its prime :-)

Do not Despair. The OS 7 devices still work work well, and are available on ebay, craigslist, kijiji, and whatever. Enjoy them. They work well, for what they were designed to do.
